Sick Cats.. Special Sale

One of the problems of having a number of cats.. especially senior cats is when they get sick it really takes a bite out of our money.. and we had two of them in the same week.. 

Spookie got sick first.. had kidney problems that went into kidney failure.. tried to get him over the hump.. didn't work.. and we had to put him to sleep.. really upsetting as I had him as a kitten.. and he was about 15 years old..

Then Zeb got sick.. he is our oldest.. is 17 -18 now.. at least he was treatable.. fluids and meds.. he is having problems with his liver and has low potassium.. 

So now I need a clearance sale for funds. which will go on Monday - Thursday.. Had to bring Spookie into the vet..

Spookie has kidney failure... but since he is partly feral.. it makes it hard to give him his fluids and meds.. with this heat.. he really got bad.. so we brought him in.. he is staying there to get treatment for a few days.. and then we will decide on what we should do.. his levels all have gone up noticeably..

Am down about this.. as to me he isnt feral.. just when we need to give him treatments..

Too Darn Hot!!

Just got back in from fertilizing and watering my garden, and hanging a load of clothes outside.. it is unbelievably hot.. they say it is 90 degrees.. but that is at the airport.. which means it is probably at least another 5 -6 degrees hotter here.. I am not having a good time of it.. lol.. am sure alot of people are saying that.. thankfully we have air conditioners both up and down..

One thing this heat is doing.. is it is really making my crops grow like crazy.. my peppers, tomatoes are doing the best.. also got some eggplants growing and cucumbers.. picked a few zucchini today.. unfortunately also had to pull out 3 dying plants too.. sigh..

The heat is definitely affecting my cats.. one of my sick cats (he has kidney disease) really isnt doing well.. we had to go back to force feeding him.. he already is on two meds and fluids.. I am really hoping he bounces back..

I did get some crocheting done last night... finished off a birthday gift.. and working on an order of hanging towels.. I was suppose to go and mail orders today.. but they are going to have to wait another day.. cos I just cant convince myself to go back outside.. and especially get in the car..

Michelle's End Of Year Update

Well.. this year has been a busy one.. both with sales and personal stuff.. I spend the last part of the year thinking about my life.. especially with the loss of 3 of my cats.. Fiona, Sapphire, and now Pretty Girl, who died on Christmas Day.. my second youngest cat, Gabby (who also has FIV) developed Glaucoma in one eye first (right after Thanksgiving).. and now is in the vet office with a possible lump in her abdomen.. am so hoping it isnt cancer..

One thing for sure.. I will not be taking any more pets in.. it is nerve racking as well as draining, both money and energy.. I know I sound a little bit down.. it is because I am.. This month was draining.. even cutting back on orders, I found myself still running on both barrels.. with physical therapy, running to and from Dr appts.. vet appts.. etc.. I am tired.. and not sure what to do about it.. Maybe I need a vacation... I used to find crochet relaxing.. now even that is draining me.. I think I need to take a step back and just relax... spend some time just cutting back from sales and the  computer.. I will try to send updates at least once a week.. and let you know what is up..

Zebra Slippers are Finished!!

Actually I finished them yesterday, but had a headache and just chilled and read a book all evening.. did a lot of stuff the last couple of days.. major house work.. gardening.. stuff like that..

Monday we had NO water.. major water break on our street.. sigh.. so had to hit the store and get 10 gallons of water to water the garden and have water for us and the pets.. still using bottled water as our water when turned back on.. came out reddish yellowish in color.. ugh..

Yesterday, our dog had his yearly visit with the vet.. they had to do a lot of tests on him as he was having problems.. he may have Diabetes Insipidus.. His blood and urine tests came out normal.. except for fact his urine wasnt concentrated.. sigh.. only I would end up with a dog with DI.

Anyways.. here are the completed slippers.. if you want to order them (these are made to order.. nor ready to order).. the prices are $8 for infant, $9 - $10 for Toddler to child, $11 - $12 for teens to adults.. Hope you like them.. I thought they came cute..

Saturday.. Link Update and Other Stuff

Link is doing really well.. of course he is still sore, but there isnt any infection going on.. and he is now able to at least get up and down from spots that he couldnt do before.. One thing that has changed is he isnt bossing the other cats around.. which is a remarkable change. No idea if this is permanent or not yet.. I would be happy if it was..

Quick Update..

Just a picture that made me laugh.. needed it after the weekend. 

Link is still in the animal hospital.. but is eating and drinking and finally off of pain meds.. they got him on antibiotics.. and am watching him closely.. I guess they plan on doing some other tests (xrays, taking care of his major wounds) tomorrow.. but I am happy that he at least didnt get too seriously injuried.. that darn cat has used too many of his 9 lives.

Been busy here with Ebay as a bunch of orders came in.. gonna spend today getting some more items in Listia as well as just clearing thru emails and other computer work.. then I want to get outside and get more seeds started.. so far my lettuce, spinach and flowers are coming up.. but nothing with the pepper seeds.. sigh.. oh well.. there is always plants.. want to start some cucumbers, green beans and zucchini plants today..

I had a few Dr. appts so was able to finish off a set of hanging towels.. just got to weave in the ends and add the buttons.. so figure that tonight and take pictures tomorrow..

Horrorable.. horrible day yesterday..

On Friday night, my car overheated and we were really overdue for a oil change.... so I went to Delta Sonic really early Saturday Morning to get it done and get all my fluids checked.  They said to me that my head gasket was leaking.. which really worried me.. so I went to my Mechanic (missing my friend's brother's funeral) so he could look at it.. so while my car was gone, somehow my cat got out and ended up in the yard two door down.. Link grew up in my house and wasnt afraid of dogs cos my dog wouldnt hurt a cat ever.. so when he got attacked by those two dogs he got totally freaked.. I tried to get him.. but the dogs kept attacking him.. his damn owner just stood on the porching yelling at the dogs (like that would help).. finally I got Link to the gate and my boyfriend (who had just arrived home) took him cos I had an asthma attack from the stress.. finally got him home and checked him over.. most of the bites were to the legs.. but he was in respiratory distressed.. so I called my friend who is a vet and she told me what to do (shock, pain, antibiotics .. But he didnt calm down.. so she told me to take him to the Emergency Vet  to be checked over and get more stronger pain meds Thankfully my car was back by then.. so we took him.. it was $100 just to go in the door (which I knew).. even after we told them what the other vet said (and she was on the phone there too).. they would give any supportive care unless we left him there overnight ($900) and got xrays ($184).. I wasnt happy.. had to argue with them just to give us our cat.. and I ran him over to Central Park (I used to work there) and met up with one of the Techs there who took him in and called Dr. L.. well.. update.. he got his pain meds and they kept him.. On Monday I can go and get an update on him.. so far.. their total bill is less than $100.. just what it cost me to walk in the door.. I am NOT impressed with the kind of care and attention we got there.. and that is why I am writing this.. I dont recommend you bring  your pet there for ANY reason..

Sunday Update..

Well.. havent done these for awhile.. smile.. Just thought I would stop in and let you know what is up in my world.. On the kitties front.. Sapphire is healed again.. back eating and moving around.. That makes me happy.. Gabby, on the other hand, is not healed up yet.. her one gland in her neck is still swollen.. if she isnt better by Tuesday I guess it will be time to visit the vet AGAIN..

On my stores.. been working hard to get some new items up for sale at Old & New Shoppe and Listia. I will be putting up alot of new patterns in both, and new books in Old & New Shoppe.. been doing alot of reading, so have alot to put up..

In crocheting.. I finished off the pair of slippers I have been working on.. just need to attach them to the bottoms.. this is one pattern I will never use again.. I didnt like it.. to be honest.. If someone wants them.. I am definitely gonna charge double what I did agree on. I am now starting a pair of sneaker slippers.. like these.. except in gray and peach.. already started the bottoms..

I still need to finish a baby gift I started for someone.. as well as an order for a Camisole I got.. smile.. will update you with pictures during the week..

My cats..

Well.. Sapphire is on the mend.. from her major infection of her mouth... dont have a picture of her on this computer.. unfortunately it is on the computer that got taken over with a virus.. this picture is of Gabby who now is sick.. both cats have the same problem.. both are infected with Feline Aids, which makes them more susceptible to infections.. Gabby was born with it.. and Sapphire, who knows how she got it.. as she had it when I got her.. The two of them keep my Vet in business all by themselves.. unfortunately..

Sunday Update..

Well.. am back again.. I had plan on coming back earlier, but that is before I had a ton of running around to do.. and had a flareup of my pain.. am taking both meds and still feel like my whole body is on slow burn.. and my joints feel like they are all swollen.. am not sure why.. anyone have any suggestions.. I am on Lyrica and Tramadol for two different kinds of pain.. they were working.. but the last 3 days I am barely under control.. hurts to type and crochet.. which really makes me feel like I am totally behind in everything.. and frustrates me.. sigh..

Still working on slippers.. got a number of orders for slippers to get done.. and even if I feel worse, I have to get it done... as people are expecting them.. so since something has to go.. it probably will be this.. unfortunely.. I hope you understand..

We finally got the Christmas decorations down.. and I am finally finding time to send the pictures here.. lol.. well.. better late than never.



This was our tree and my manger that my mom had made for me back in 1978.. brings back wonderful memories of my mom.

Guess I was wrong..

I thought all my stuff was over.. but I guess not.. with all the last minute orders and holiday sale stuff going on.. I  just havent had a moment to breathe.. then I got a gallbladder attack that ended me up into the hospital.. just for a day.. but I guess my body is telling me to SLOW down.. so I am listening to it.. I will at least come one a week.. and try to get a couple days worth saved to send..

Also, during this crazy week.. my cat, Rachel died.. I suspected for a long time it was coming.. couldnt bring her in as she was feral.. and she hasnt been happy since my other cat, Blizzard died.. thought I would share a picture of her from the mid to lat 1990's..

My first Wordless Wednesday Post.. My Cat

Seems alot of bloggers do a wordless Wednesday posts.. so I thought I would try.. lol..

This is my cat, Julius.. also known as Mr. Magoo.. Julius Magoo.. don't ask.. grin.  I am getting a new Logo (more about this later) and Jess is gonna make a cartoon cat based on my cat, Julius.. so I thought I would introduce you to him..

Julius was my birthday gift from my boyfriend last year.. we had lost a kitten that I was bottle feeding who looked similar to him.. so we adopted him.. he is a really BEAUTIFUL cat.. or at least I think so.. smile..

Just Wasn't A Good Day..

After I had finished all my computer work, my boyfriend told me to look at one of our cats because she wouldnt eat (which for her was very unusual).. checked her over and thought.. she really is having problems swallowing.. so had to make a slurry of baby food and Pedialyte (only thing I had in the house) and had to force feed her (she was dehydrated a bit too).. so spent my evening, trying to crochet in between feedings.

This am, I took her in.. and yep.. her mouth was really infected and her throat swollen, so they kept her.. Guess they had to pull a bunch of teeth (dont know how many cos I didnt talk to my Vet).  Well, that all threw my day off.  I had shopping to do.. and alot of running around to get done also.. so I didnt have time to take any photos of my newest project. Guess you will all have to wait until tomorrow.. For tonight I am going to relax and crochet because I have another busy day tomorrow and Saturday.

Feeling Better Today..

Good afternoon.. today will be a bit slower for me.. taking it easy and watching the Olympics while doing sales stuff. I have alot to get done today.. 


I have to say it is quite nice to watch the Olympics.. especially with Micheal Phelps making his goal.. and the Women's Gymnastic team doing so well.. I especially like Gabby.. smile.. I have a cat named Gabby, that was a bottle fed baby.. smile.. she had a tough time with her life (esp since we found out she has Feline Aids, it wont be ending), and we almost lost her 4 times due to health problems.. 

It is a new month.. so putting stuff on Ebay.. I like that they give you 50 free ads a month.. so I really do use them.. smile.. I put up items from both my storefronts.. smile.. Check it out.. if you want to..

Good day.. smile.. got some sales... got a netbook (thanks Son!!).. and my cat is home.. oh.. it is also a nice day.. smile.. guess that also should be listed.. lol. 

Hot Humid Sunday!!

It finally rained here.. not enough to do anything.. just make it more humid.. humidity is starting to go down.. down to 62% now.. temp of 80.. not alot to alot of people. but we in Buffalo are just not used to this kind of weather.. they officially said we are in a drought.. and yah. sure looks like it.. all the lawns are brown and dried out.. only good part is we dont need to cut the grass.. grin..

Been picking alot of summer squash.. so some of my friends have gotten some.. stopped over a friend's house last night.. and visited and got a bunch of stuff  back from her.. lol.. guess it was a fair exchange.. smile.

I think Sundays will be my day for just catching up with stuff.. no sales going out.. no new items going up.. Just a nice long note on my blog.. just need a break once in a while.. smile.. I do have orders to pack and mail.. and an order to start.. just been focusing on making and using up crochet cotton in dishclothes.. I do have a few more to add tomorrow.. New sales going out too..

Tomorrow will be a busy day for me.. have to hit the post office and mail orders, visit my cat in the animal hospital and find out if they are going to do surgery on him.. he keeps blocking.. poor cat.. and then I have an appt for the afternoon.
